Administrative HistoryThe ancient parish of Acton comprised the townships of Acton, Aston iuxta Mondrum, Austerson al. Alstanton, Baddington, Brindley, Broomhall, Burland, Cholmondeston, Chorley, Coole Pilate, Edleston, Faddiley, Henhull, Hurleston, Poole, Sound, Stoke, Woodcott, Worleston, Wrenbury cum Frith. Parts of Dodcot cum Wilkesley and Newhall, and part of Sound formed the chapelry of Wrenbury. Both Nantwich and Church Minshull parishes were at one one time regarded as chapelries in Acton parish, but had achieved effective parochial status before the end of the seventeenth century.

A district comprising parts of Dodcot cum Wilkesley and Newhall was assigned to the old domestic chapel of Burleydam in 1869, and the new parish of Worleston St Oswald, comprising the townships of Aston iuxta Mondrum, Cholmondeston, Poole and Worleston was formed in 1873
